Aleta M. Wilson, 98, formerly of Sistersville, W.Va. passed away Saturday, February 7, 2009 at Good Shepherd Nursing Home, Wheeling, W.Va. She was born April 22, 1910 in Upshur County, W.Va., a daughter of the late Ernest F. and Mary Maude McClain. Mrs. Wilson was co-owner with her late husband of the Tyler County Journal and had been a secretary at Sistersville Junior High School. She was an accomplished bridge player in the tri-state area and a member of Sistersville Elks Emblem Club, Martha Washington Chapter #22 OES, and a former member of the Middlebourne Women’s Club. Mrs. Wilson was a member of the Sistersville United Methodist Church. She is survived by her daughters, Winifred Surkosky and husband, Robert, of Stafford, Va., Jackie Thompson of Colonial Beach, Va. and Willa Knollinger and husband, Douglas, of Triadelphia, W.Va.; five grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Ralph F. Wilson; four brothers, Ferrell, John, Kenneth and William McClain; and a sister, Edith Holland. Memorial services will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 22, 2009 at the Sistersville United Methodist Church, Sistersville, W.Va. Inurnment will be in the Greenwood Cemetery, Sistersville, W.Va. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Myers Funeral Home, 600 Main Street, Sistersville, W.Va.
