Allan Lee Maxwell

Allan L. Maxwell, 69, of Sistersville, WV, passed away March 7, 2012 at home. He was born March 6, 1943, a son of the late Ray Maxwell and Nancy Webb Maxwell. Allan worked at Ormet Corporation from October 28, 1963 to November 1, 2008. He retired as a Senior Project Engineer. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Sistersville. He was a graduate of Sistersville High School class of 1961. He was an Eagle Scout. He was a member of the Sistersville Elks Lodge BPOE #333 and was initiated into the lodge on July 7, 1965. He served as Exalted Ruler from 1978-1979 and was elected to Life Membership January 16, 2008. He was a 47 year member of the Sistersville Lodge. He served as Treasurer of Riverview Apartments and served for years as an officer of the Sistersville Boat Club. Allan also served on the Sistersville Water Board and Sistersville General Hospital, where he served as Treasurer. He is survived by daughters, Merritt (Daniel) Grimes of Sistersville, Erin Maxwell of Sistersville and Katie Maxwell of Apalachicola, FL; sister, Beverly (Rodney) Dally of Fort Pierce, FL and brother, David (Pam) Maxwell of Sistersville; four nieces, three nephews and six grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Margaret “Maggie” Maxwell in 2008. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Elks National Foundation, 2750 N. Lakeview Avenue, Chicago, IL 60614-2256, www.elks.org/enf/default.cfm or to Journey Hospice, 314 S. Wells Street, Sistersville, WV 26175. Services will be Saturday at 1:00 pm at Myers Funeral Home with Reverend Colleen Griffith and Reverend Bill Dawson officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 at Myers Funeral Home. Elks memorial service will be at 7:30 pm. Interment will be at Greenwood Cemetery. Online condolences may be offered at myersfuneralhomewv.com.
