Allen Reed Wilson, 60, of Sistersville, died Saturday, January 4, 2014, in an accident in Sebring, Florida. He was born June 12, 1953, in Buckhannon, WV, the son of the late Roger Allen and Ada Kelly Wilson. He graduated from Buckhannon-Upshur High School. He retired from Bayer in New Martinsville as a Chemical Operator. In his retirement, he worked part time for the West Virginia Funeral Group at Myers Funeral Home in Sistersville as a Director's Assistant. Allen was a prolific reader who spent much of his free time reading mysteries while relaxing in his easy chair with his two dachshunds, Barkley and Jake, and his cat, Lennard. He was also an avid golfer and enjoyed playing rounds with friends in Sistersville and at his winter home in Sebring, Florida. He was a devoted husband, father and friend who was known by all for his kindness and sense of humor. Allen was a Past Exaulted Ruler, Elks Lodge 333, as well as a Master Mason, Wetzel Masonic Lodge 39. He was a longtime member of the Tyler County Shrine and Shriners International. He also served on the Sistersville Water Board for many years. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Carolyn Neely Wilson; sons, Jeremy Allen Wilson and wife, Becky, of Graham, NC and Mark Daniel Wilson and companion, Maegan Adkins, of Hurricane; brother, Tim Wilson and wife, Peggy, of Show Low, AZ; sisters, Ginger Strader and companion, Mike, of Frenchton, and Rhoda McIntyre and husband, Bob, of Fairmont; sisters-in-law, Mary Neely of Parkersburg and Leah Gilmore of Williamstown; and mother-in-law, Jane Neely of Sistersville. Friends may call at Myers Funeral Home for visitation on Friday, January 10, 2014 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. Services will be Saturday, January 11, 2014 at 11:00 AM with Reverend Bill Dawson officiating. Interment will be at Friendly Cemetery.
