Beryl E. Markley, 86, of Sistersville, W.Va., passed away May 23, 2011 at home. Beryl was born August 20, 1924 in Sistersville, a son of the late Jacob Markley and Susan Adams Markley. He was retired from Ormet after 25 years of service; was a WWII Army Veteran having served as an Army medic in Germany; was a lifetime member of the Sistersville ELKS BPOE #333; was a former commander of the Sistersville VFW Post #6327; was a member of the American Legion Post #67; and was an accomplished guitar player and musician. Beryl is survived by his sons, James E. Markley of Parkersburg, W.Va. and Dale Markley of Sistersville, W.Va.; daughter, Gayle Clegg Nelson (Steve) of New Martinsville, W.Va.; grandchildren, Scott Clegg of Sistersville, W.Va., Natasha Phillips of New Martinsville, W.Va., Christine Lively and Melissa Fox of Parkersburg, W.Va. and Michelle Laugh of Daniels, W.Va.; thirteen great- grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Armeda Markley; six sisters; and four brothers. Services will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, May 26, 2011 at the Myers Funeral Home with Reverend Herman Haught officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday from 2-4 & 6-8 pm at the funeral home with an ELKS service at 7:30 pm. Interment will be at Friendly Cemetery with military graveside rites.
