Betty L. Fiest, 95, of Sistersville, WV passed away peacefully on July 27, 2018 at her residence at The Gardens of Royal Oaks Assisted Living facility in Dalton, GA. She was born October 29, 1922, in Friendly, WV, a daughter of the late A.D. Hissom and Lucy J. Hissom. Betty was a glass engraver and owner of Damron’s Glass Engraving in Sistersville, WV. She was a member of The First United Methodist Church of Sistersville and the VFW Post #6327 Ladies Auxiliary. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Fiest; son, William D. Fiest; 4 brothers, 5 sisters, and longtime friend, Russell Baker. She is survived by her son, Jack Fiest and daughter-in-law, Kathy Fiest of Dalton, GA; grandsons, Derek Fiest of New Martinsville, WV, Chad Fiest of Calhoun, GA and David O’Brien of Woodstock, GA; granddaughter, Kelly Coon of Dalton, GA and 6 great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank the staff at The Gardens of Royal Oaks for their wonderful care of Betty over the past 5 years. Thanks also to her sitters who stayed by her side and to the Hamilton Hospice Group for their care and compassion towards the final stages of her life. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to The First United Methodist Church of Sistersville, 610 Main Street, Sistersville, WV 26175. The family will receive friends on Monday, July 30, 2018 from 11:00 am until time of service at noon at Myers Funeral Home with Niles Hissom officiating. Interment will be at Greenwood Cemetery.
