Betty Novotny

Betty Novotny, 94, of Friendly, WV, (formerly West Homestead, PA), passed away July 29, 2020 at Sistersville General Hospital. She was born November 19, 1925, in Pittsburgh, PA, a daughter of the late Stephen Kovacs and Ethel Debreceni Kovacs. Betty worked at West Penn Hospital and Homestead Hospital as a Registered Nurse. She loved cooking and baking and taking care of her friends and family. She is survived by her sons, Richard Novotny of Murrysville, PA, Michael "Mick" Novotny (Deborah Wingerson) of West Homestead, PA and Robert "Bobby" (Janet) Novotny of West Homestead, PA; daughter, Debbie Novotny (Steven Morningstar) of Friendly, WV; brothers, Jim (Lorita) Kovacs and Johnny Kovacs; grandchildren, Michael Novotny, Betsy Novotny and Ben Novotny and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Michael Novotny; brothers, Eugene, Bobby, William and Stephen Kovacs; sister, Irene McVicker and daughter-in-law, Judith Novotny. The family would like to extend a heartfelt "thank you" to Betty's caregivers, Sharon Phillips, Joyce Schmenk, Brandy Hayes and Carolyn Leek. As well as the staff at Sistersville General Hospital and Allen Phillips, Dr. Bantug and staff and Journey Hospice. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made to Journey Hospice, 314 S.
