Betty Ruth Rush

Betty Ruth Rush, 90, of Sistersville, WV, passed away on July 7, 2024 after a brief stay at Rada’s Personal Care Home.

She was born March 9, 1934, on Pleasants Ridge, (Sistersville), WV, a daughter of the late Roy Ice and Opal Evans Ice.

Betty Ruth was a member of the Sistersville First United Methodist Church.  She graduated from Tyler County High School and attended West Virginia Northern Community College where she received a degree in Office Practice.  In her many years, she worked several different jobs, including bookkeeping for her husband’s business, Delbert’s Auto Repair and for Bill’s Body Shop.  She was a sales clerk at Winer’s Department Store, worked at G.C Murphy Company and Sistersville A&P.  She was a designer at Dudley’s Florist and in most recent years, she was a part-time office clerk for her daughter-in-law at Barth’s Florist.

Betty Ruth was very active in the community, being a Cub Scout leader, helping with the 4-H, 10 years with the PTA, past President of the VIP Homemakers Club, past President of Sistersville Hospital Rose Twig and past Vice President of Sistersville Emblem Club #84.

She worked at Sparrowgrass Publishing Company for several years and she wrote her article for the Tyler Star News, “Grandma’s Country Kitchen.”

Betty Ruth was an avid reader and has read every mystery book that could be found.  Her pride and joy would be her yard and flower beds and her red Camaro convertible car.  She was most proud of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her sons, Don (Joyce) Rush and Ron (Teresa) Rush, both of Sistersville, WV; brother, Kenneth (Joan) Ice of Parkersburg, WV; grandchildren, Benjamin (Laura) Rush of Marietta, OH, Rebecca (Steve) Smith of Athens, AL and Isaac Rush of Marietta, OH; great-grandchildren, Reed Rush and Liliana and Emmett Smith and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Delbert Rush and grandson, Nicholas Rush.

Services will be Thursday, July 11, 2024 from 10:00 am until time of service at 11:00 am at Myers Funeral Home with her son, Pastor Don Rush officiating.  Visitation will be Wednesday, July 10, 2024 from 4-8 pm at Myers Funeral Home.  Interment will be at Tuttle Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Tuttle Cemetery, 2305 Dry Run Road, Sistersville, WV  26175.
