Betty Starkey

Betty Starkey of Friendly, WV passed away on November 14, 2015 and went on to be with the Lord. She was preceded in death by her husband, Keith Starkey and one daughter, Sheila Starkey. Betty was the last survivor of six siblings; Jim (Violet) Knowlton, Edith Knowlton, Ruth (Glen) Moore, Norma Jean (Melvin) Williamson and Hilda (Paul) Stewart. She was also preceded in death by Aunt Lenna and Uncle Harold Knowlton who raised the family. She is survived by one son, Terry Starkey and three daughters, Sharon (Billy) Grandstaff, Marilyn (Mark) Spiker and Marsha (Jim) DeLancey. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; Sarah (Chris) Spiker Smith (Connor and Kate), Angie (Robby) Spiker Benson (Blake and Bryce), Katie (Christian) Spiker Shaffer (Adalyn), Jeana Spiker, Tonya (Tyler) Grandstaff Jackson (Dru, Nolan and Olivia), Grant and Shealyn DeLancey. Betty was a member of the Friendly United Methodist Church, retired from the Colin Anderson Center, St. Mary’s, WV and was currently serving as a council member in Friendly. She was a perfect example of a Godly woman who was gentle, kind, and gracious. She was loved by many. Family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Myers Funeral Home, 600 Main St., Sistersville, WV where funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday with Rev. Gene Adkins officiating. Interment will follow in the Archer’s Chapel Cemetery.
