Bill Deaton

Bill Deaton, 78, of Friendly, WV, passed away January 21, 2021 at Sistersville General Hospital. He was born February 17, 1942, in Wheeling, WV, a son of the late Floyd M. Deaton and Beulah Brown Deaton. Bill was retired from Columbian Chemicals as an Instrument Technician and he was in the United States Navy. He was the caretaker of Friendly Cemetery for over 30 years and rehabilitated the Wells Cemetery in Sistersville. He was also the courier for Union Bank. He enjoyed fishing in Georgia, having cookouts and playing corn hole with the family, but most of all, he loved and adored his wife, children and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Peggy Stottlemire Deaton; daughters, Melissa (Erik) Soliday of Ashburn, GA, Brenda Todd of Caldwell, OH, Julie (Brad) Yonaley of Sistersville, WV and Janelle (Jimmy) West of Williamstown, WV; sister, Debbie (Ralph) Ballard; brother, Richard "Dick" (Gay) Deaton; grandchildren, Valary Todd, Mikel (Jessica) Soliday, Tim Soliday, Seth Todd, Stephanie Todd, Luke Soliday, Avery Goff, Shay (Kirk) Stechly, Riley West, Danielle Yonaley, Cole Soliday and Jocey West; and great-grandchildren, Ella and Jagger Todd and Beau Stechly. Visitation will be Monday from 2-4 & 6-8 pm at Myers Funeral Home. The funeral will be Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at 1:00 pm with Reverend Andrew Tennant officiating. Interment will be at Friendly Cemetery with full military rites. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made to Journey Hospice, 314 S.
