Carl Swartzmiller

Swartzmiller, Carl, age 79, of Sistersville, WV passed away Saturday, April 29, 2017 at the Wheeling Hospital, Wheeling, WV. He was born on September 15, 1937 in Sistersville, a son of the late Paul C. and Pauline Markley Swartzmiller. Carl was a retired employee of the Ormet Corp., Hannibal, OH; a member of the B.P.O.E #333, Sistersville; a social member of the V.F.W. Post #6327 and American Legion Post #67 both of Sistersville. He was also a long-time member of the One Way Ticket band. Carl loved to socialize and was loved and will be missed by many people. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Carole Ann Cooper Swartzmiller; siblings: Norman Swartzmiller, Kathryn Mahoney, John (Chata) Swartzmiller, Raymond (Patty) Swartzmiller; brother-n-law Daryl Belvin and a nephew, Bobbie Lee Swartzmiller. Survivors include three children: Carl Joseph (Stephanie) Swartzmiller of Washington, WV, Lisa (Dennis) Hartman of Sistersville and Mark (Rebecca) Swartzmiller of Evans, GA; seven grandchildren: Elisha (Randy) Nelson, Dustin Swartzmiller, Zachary (Chelsey) Hartman, Jessica Hartman, Chance Swartzmiller and Alexa Swartzmiller; five great grandchildren; three brothers: Robert (Shirley) Swartzmiller of New Cumberland, WV, Joseph Swartzmiller of Sistersville, Herbie (Beverly) Swartzmiller of Sistersville; four sisters: Maxine (Herbert) Grimm of Crossville, TN, Jean (Robert) Gumm of Weirton, WV, Betty (Abe) Cowgill of Friendly, WV and Ruth Belvin of Akron, OH; brother-in-law: Jim Mahoney of Pendleton, TN, sister-in-law: Joyce Swartzmiller of Weirton, WV and several nieces, nephews and dear friends. Services will be announced at a later date by the family. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Myers Funeral Home, Sistersville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Assoc., 162 Court St., Charleston, WV 25302.
