On August 12, 2009 the illness of diabetes overtook the body of Christopher Glen Carse, but did not take his spirit. Christopher Glen Carse, 56, of 916 Maple Lane, Sistersville, WV, went to be with the Lord, August 12, 2009. Chris was a patient in Wheeling Park Hospital where he had undergone amputation of his right leg. Chris fought a very courageous battle with diabetes for close to 30 years. He went on kidney dialysis in 1997, had his left leg amputated in 1998 and received a kidney transplant in 1999 which worked wonders until 2004 at which time it failed. He went back on dialysis 3 times a week for 5 years. On Tuesday, August 11, 2009 he had his right leg amputated. Chris was the devoted son of Carlton and Dianne Carse. He was born December 31, 1952 in Sistersville, WV. He is the loving father of Allison Carse of Shepherdstown, WV and Sgt. Matthew Carse of the U.S. Air Force stationed in Anchorage, Alaska. Chris graduated from Sistersville High School and Fairmont State College and held a Master’s Degree in Electrical Technology. He owned and operated Carse Electric Service for 17 years in Sistersville. He was an electrical instructor at the Wetzel Career Center until its closing and then taught at PRT in Pleasants County and the St. Mary’s Correctional Facility. Chris was a life member of the Sistersville United Methodist Church where he was lay leader and was in charge of building the new addition that was added to the Church several years ago. He was a member of the Wetzel Masonic Lodge 39 of New Martinsville, WV. He was a former President for the Sistersville Jaycees. Chris is survived by his parents, Carlton and Dianne Carse; brother Craig (Leslie) Carse; nephew David (Erin) Carse; niece Lindsey Carse; sister Susan (Boyd) McLocklin and niece Abby McLocklin. He was preceded in death, by brother, David Carlton Carse. Services will be 11:00 am Saturday, August 15, 2009 at the First United Methodist Church, Sistersville, WV with Reverend Bill Dawson officiating. Visitation will be from 5-8 pm, Friday at Myers Funeral Home. There will be a Masonic graveside service at Greenwood Cemetery.
