Dennis O. Haley

Dennis O. Haley, 85, of Sistersville, WV, went to be with his Lord and savior Jesus Christ, September 8, 2017, with his children by his side. He was born December 28, 1931, in Chicago, IL, the son of the late James F. and Lillian Haley. Dennis attended Carnegie Mellon University and served in the United States Air Force as a flight engineer during the Korean War. Following the war, he worked as a draftsman for Koppers in Pittsburgh and later began a career with Chemical Leaman Tank Lines with assignments in New Jersey and Charleston, WV before serving as terminal manager in Friendly, WV. He then followed his entrepreneurial spirit in the Insurance business as he owned Mountaineer Insurance Agency in New Martinsville, WV from 1978 to 1994. He was a deacon at the First Baptist Church of Sistersville, a Mason, American Legion member and past President of the Lions Club and Sistersville Athletic Boosters. Dennis was a voracious reader his entire life. He was preceded in death by his wife, Pat Haley in 2002. He is survived by his twin sister, Judy Jacobs of West Palm Beach, FL and her daughters Jaime and Janice; daughter, Judy (Pat) Danforth and son, Patrick Danforth of Indianapolis, IN; son, Bill (Malee) Haley and daughters, Lauren and Sarah Haley, Michelle (Travis) Guffey and sons, Drew and Maddux and daughter, Kathryn (Chance) Wolf and daughters, Annie and Hannah all of Wichita Falls, TX; son, John (Juanita) Haley and sons, Austin and Dillon Haley and son, Cayson Haley of New Martinsville, WV; and daughter, Carol Haley and son, Brendon Haley of Sistersville, WV. Services will be held on Saturday, September 9, 2017 from 11:00 am until time of service at 1:00 PM at Myers Funeral Home Sistersville, WV with Reverend Darrell Mayfield officiating. Interment will follow in Beechwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made to Genesis/New Martinsville Center, Activity Fund, 225 Russell Avenue, New Martinsville, WV 26155.
