Dorthia Marrie Thomas

Dorthia Marrie Thomas, 80, of New Martinsville, WV, went to be with the Lord on February 22, 2015 where she was reunited with her husband, Dora Thomas. She was surrounded by her loving family. She was born December 20, 1934, in Paden City, a daughter of the late Homer F. Tanley and Delcie Deloris Tanley. When Dorthia was 14 years old, her family moved to the Ten Mile area of Middlebourne, WV. A few years later, she met the love of her life and they were married February 7, 1952. Dorthia loved working on the farm with her husband and she enjoyed gardening, crocheting, playing cards, yahtzee, dominoes and she most enjoyed the sound of happy children. She was a member of TOPSWV #106 in New Martinsville for over 25 years where she held many officer positions. She is survived by her sons, Roger (Debbie) Thomas with whom she resided and Raymond R. (Stephanie) Thomas, both of New Martinsville; daughter, Eva J. (JP) Springer of Paden City; sisters, Leathia A. Hissom of New Martinsville, Violet R. Lehew of Paden City and Barbara L. (Joe) Dawson of Middlebourne; grandchildren, Joseph (Peggy) Hoskins, IV, Jennifer (Tim) Leasky, Lee (Brandy) Thomas, Tony (Erica) Thomas, Tracy Hoskins, Gypsy (Tim) Clagg, Christy Rexrode, William Thomas, Mandy Thomas, Angel (Steve) Hines, Philip Leasure, Ashley (Jason) Postelwait and William Glendening, twenty-eight great-grandchildren and one great great-granddaughter. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Dora Thomas; son, William Oscar Thomas; brothers, Homer Franklin Tanley, Jr., Harry Arthur Tanley, Clinton Eugene Tanley and Dale Fredrick Tanley and sisters, Bettie Deloris Derby and Lillian Louise Wilson. Services will be Thursday at 11:00 am at Myers Funeral Home with Steve Hines officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4-8 pm at the funeral home. Interment will be at Thomas Family Cemetery.
