Billings, Edith Theodosia Day, age 77, passed away on Dec. 13 at Camden Clark Hospital in Parkersburg. She was born on July 15, 1935 in McDowell County, WV, the daughter of Robert Elmer Day and Maudie Henninger Day. Before retiring to the Sistersville Genesis Rehabilitation Center seven years ago, Edith was a cook at the Wells Inn for many years. She was raised in McDowell and Fayette Counties in West Virginia and graduated from Frankfort High School in 1955, the first of her family to earn a diploma. After high school, Edith married and was very, very proud of the seven children she raised to be productive members of their communities. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers James, Clayton, Mack, Mason, Rod and Roy Day; sisters, Retha Day and Mae Ervin; and four grandchildren. She is survived by one brother, Bob, of Sistersville; sisters Gladys Dunn, Naomi Day, and Marie Hull. Her seven children also survive: Judy Light (Steve) of Sistersville; Don (Sharon) of Glen Bernie, MD; Dave (Sandra) of Sistersville; Steve (Tabatha) of Pasadena, MD; Ken (Bessie) of Sistersville; Mike (Amy) of Senecaville, OH; and Barbara, of Sistersville. Also surviving are 19 grandchildren: TSgt. Adam Light, of Yokota AFB, Japan; Sheena Hubbard of Sistersville; Ben, Morgan and Phillip Billings of Glen Bernie, MD; Crystal Shannon of Chambersburg, PA; Amber Martin of New Martinsville; Erin and Danielle Billings of Renton, WA; Chrissy, Jason, Kim and Emily Calvert of Pasadena, MD; Alexis Billings and Trace Jackson of Sistersville; Cassidy McCoy of Jane Lew, WV; Judd Billings of Ravenswood; and Shelby and Spencer Billings of Sistersville. 13 great-grandchildren also survive as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family. As per her wishes, there will be no visitation services and the burial will be private. Myers Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
