Edith Virginia Knowlton, "Aunt Edie", 85, of Middlebourne, WV, passed away June 22, 2009. She was born September 2, 1923 to the late Lawrence O. Knowlton and Beatrice Mae Archer Knowlton. She was predeceased by a brother, James B. Knowlton; and sisters Norma Jean Williamson and Mary A. Knowlton. Also special mom, Lenna Knowlton and special Uncle Harold "Unk" Knowlton. Aunt Edie is survived by three sisters, Ruth Moore, of Middlebourne, WV, Betty Starkey, of Friendly, WV, Hilda (Paul) Stewart, of Arvilla, WV; a sister-in-law, Violet (Henry) Knowlton, of Fly, OH; fifteen nieces and nephews; and over 70 great and great, great nieces and nephews. Although she never had children of her own, she was like a mother to many. She was a member of the Little United Methodist Church for over 75 years and was a Sunday School teacher for over 50 years. She was a Secretary for the WV Division of Highways, District 6, in Triadelphia, WV. She was a member of the Buffalo Gals, Co-Founder of the WV Chapter of Newborns in Need, Tyler County Heritage and Historical Society, she ran and operated the Tyler County Museum Gift Shop, she loved to crochet and especially enjoyed crocheting toboggans for the Newborns in Need. Many hunters have blaze orange toboggans thanks to Aunt Edie. She was a great cook and was noted for her home-made bread, "sticky buns" and apple butter. Many can say that Aunt Edie never met a stranger. Visitation will be held at Myers Funeral Home, Tuesday, June 23, 2009 from 2:00 - 9:00 pm. Funeral Services will be held at Hope Fellowship Church on Sellers Road, Wednesday, June 24, 2009 at 1:00 pm with Reverend Bill Williamson officiating. Burial will be at Archers Chapel.
