Elaine Robbins Burger, 83, of Sistersville, WV, passed away on January 23, 2022 at Reynolds Memorial Hospital. Elaine loved and was loved. She was a caring sister, a wife, an aunt and a friend to many. She is remembered by those who knew her as a prankster and a mischief maker, whose fierce wit and intellect always kept you on your toes. She was born April 8, 1938, in Hackensack, NJ, to the late Kenneth Robbins and Bertha Fisse. She married her beloved Joseph Burger in 1960 and lost him way too soon in 1974. After retiring from New Jersey Bell Telephone, she lived in Barnegat, NJ, where she pursued her passion as a clay artist. Elaine moved to West Virginia in the 1990s and enjoyed wild and adventurous days living on her farm in Shirley, followed by fun-loving days in her beloved victorian home in Sistersville. “I have had an amazing life – I've gone everywhere, done everything I wanted to do,” she said in a note and asked, "Remember me as I was, when my ship sailed t'was to another sea." (author of quote unknown) She is survived by her sister, Marilyn Puttenvink of Sistersville, WV; nieces, Laura Boston-Thek of Germany and Marissa Blahnik of MN and nephew, Ken Boston of NJ. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Burger and sister, Janet Boston. The family has honored her wishes for cremation with no services.
