Emil Hanood, 83, of Sistersville, WV, passed away on October 12, 2018, at Camden Clark Medical Center. He was born October 9, 1935, in Sistersville, WV, a son of the late John Hanood and Anna Namen Hanood. Emil worked at Ormet for 41 years. He had done every job at Ormet during those years and retired as a heavy equipment operator. He was a member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church and a member of the Sistersville ELKS Lodge #333. He enjoyed spending time with his son, and also working beside him on various projects. He also enjoyed spending time with his daughter and granddaughters and going to all of his granddaughters' extracurricular activities. He was a graduate of Sistersville High School Class of 1955; he enjoyed golfing and several other activities. He was a starting running back and linebacker all four years of his high school career, was MVP of the LKC game in 1955 and was part of the 1953 Sistersville State Championship team. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Martha Wells Hanood of Sistersville, WV; daughter, Krista (Kevin) DeVaughn of Sistersville, WV and son, Danny Hanood of Greensboro, NC; and granddaughters, Madison DeVaughn and Hali DeVaughn. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Marie Scibetta and brothers, Edward Hanood and Albert Hanood. There will be a memorial visitation on Friday, October 19, 2018 at Myers Funeral Home from 4-7 pm. There will be a Memorial Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday at 11:00 am at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Sistersville with Father John Rice officiating.
