Ernest Virgil Matthews

Ernest Virgil Matthews, 84, of Middlebourne, WV, passed away April 4, 2011 at OVMC. Virgil was born May 15, 1926, a son of the late James Matthews and Goldie Leasure Matthews. He was a retired Produce Manager from A & P Tea Company, a WWII Army veteran in the Pacific Theater Operations, he was a member of the Elk Fork Church of Christ. Virgil loved to hunt, fish and garden and he enjoyed helping others with carpentry work. Virgil is survived by his brothers, Homer Matthews and A. DeWayne (Louise) Matthews both of Middlebourne and sister-in-law, Patricia Matthews Spencer of Empire, OH. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita Matthews, a sister, Madeline Wells and brother, Gerald Matthews. Services will be Thursday at 11:00 am at Myers Funeral Home with Evangelist Morris Hafley officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday from 2-4 & 6-8 at Myers Funeral Home.
