Frances Kay Hammond Nophsker, aka, Kay H. Nophsker, 81, resided and passed away in Columbus, OH, September 11, 2023, near her son, while spending her last years in assisted living and Hospice Care.
She was born in Chester, PA, where her father worked in the shipyard during WWII. The family congregated back to Sistersville where she graduated high school. She got her first college degree at Fairmont State and then moved to Marion Ohio, where she taught High School Business Education and Typing. She then continued her education with a Master’s degree in Business. She moved to Columbus and worked for Franklin County Board of Developmental Disabilities until her retirement. However, she always considered Sistersville her home and regularly participated in the alumni celebrations until recent years.
In addition to her parents, Ralph and Ruth Hammond, she is preceded in death by her daughter, Alicia Sue Rodgers.
She is survived by her son, Dennis Robert “Rob” Nophsker, Jr.; brother, Fred Hammond; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Visitation will be on Monday, September 18, 2023 from 11:00 am until time of funeral service at 1:00 pm with Reverend Colleen Griffith officiating. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
