Frances Irene Thurman, 89 of Ellenton, FL, passed peacefully on 20 July 2016 at home with her 3 children and daughter-in-law by her side. Frances was born 14 May 1927 in Sistersville, WV, daughter of the late Frank E and Mary C (Laidacker) Lucas of Middlebourne, WV. In addition to her father and mother, she is preceded in death by her husband Lloyd G Thurman Jr, 7 brothers and 6 sisters; Mary Jane Bryg, William E Lucas, Andrew D Lucas, Dorothy E Lucas, Ruth Ann Kershuk, Frank D Lucas, Robert R Lucas, Donald E Lucas, Naomi Jean Archer, Ellen V Smythe, James J Lucas, Michael S Lucas and Alice Marie Lucas. She graduated from Tyler County High School in 1945 and attended Steubenville Business College. She retired as a Benefits Administrator for the Local Retail Clerks Union 770 in Los Angeles, CA. Her children, grand-children and pets were her passion. Frances is survived by one sister, Nancy L Forrester of Middlebourne, WV, two sons and one daughter; Richard (Nancy) Lemasters of Ellenton, FL, Franklin (Diane) Lemasters of Santa Clarita, CA and Kathryn (Virgil) Mellott of Ellenton, FL and three step-children; L. Grant (Patsy) Thurman of Temecula, CA, Christine Luther of Camarillo, CA and Tina De Sena of Denver, CO. She is also survived by 7 grand-children, 12 great-children, dozens of nieces and nephews and her beloved dog, Katy. Visitation will be held at 11 AM on Monday, 25 July 2016 at Myers Funeral Home, Sistersville, WV with celebration of life service at 1 PM. Interment will be at Middlebourne Cemetery directly after the service.
