Grayce Louise Slider Buck

Grayce Louise Slider Buck, 93, of Sistersville, WV, passed away on June 3, 2022 at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital. She was born January 14, 1929 in Paden City, a daughter of the late James Owen and Opal Luedra Neff Slider. Grayce was a 1947 graduate of Tyler County High School where she was a member of the National Honor Society and TCHS Band.She was a cook for the Wells Inn for 25 years and was in the Foster Grandparent Program with Sistersville Elementary for 25 years and known as Grandma Buck. Grayce was a member of Buck Run Church of Christ where she assisted as a Sunday school teacher. She was a lifetime member of the VFW Women's Auxiliary, Hilltopper's Homemakers Club, Valley View Homemakers Club,assistant leader with the Pursley Never Quitters 4-H Club, where she received her lifetime charting pin and was the 1999 Tyler County Belle.Grayce was a mentor in the community and was considered a second mother and grandmother to many wonderful young people. She is survived by her children, Greg (Pam) Buck, Kathy Johnston, Deanna (Brad) Deaton and Doug Buck; 10 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren and one on the way; one great-great grandchild and one the way; along with a host of other family members and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, J. Lyle Buck; daughter, Linda Karen Buck; siblings, Norval (Dot) Slider, Betty (Ralph) Hamilton, Jim (Betty Sue) (Vada) Slider and Nancy (Joe) Cooper; and stepfather, Walter E. "Toots" Hammel. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm, Tuesday, June 7, 2022 at Buck Run Church of Christ with Reverend Brian Seders officiating. Burial will follow in Paden Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held from 5-8 pm on Monday, June 6, 2022 at Myers Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service Tuesday at the church.
