Gretta Gay Guyton LaRue, 77- Sistersville, WV, passed away June 5, 2009. Born in Sistersville, WV March 10, 1932, daughter of the late Orrin Dye Guyton, and the late Margaret Potter Guyton. She is survived by her husband of 55 yrs, Charles Paul LaRue; son, Jon Lansford (Ann) LaRue of Tulsa, OK; daughter, Catherine LaRue (Gregory) Black of Bakersfield, CA; daughter, Elizabeth “Betsy” LaRue of Pittsburgh, PA; Grandsons, Matthew Molesworth of Bakersfield, CA and Paul LaRue of Tulsa, OK; Granddaughter, Melissa Molesworth of Bakersfield, CA; and her only living cousin, James Potter of Corbin, KY. Gretta Gay was a retired School Teacher, and a life long member of the First Presbyterian Church - serving as Elder, Deacon, Choir member, and Sunday School teacher. Additionally, she was highly involved in many groups (serving as President and other offices) in: The Lilac Twig; P.E.O; Delta Kappa Gamma; Alpha Delta Pi; American Legion; Tri-City Fine Arts; American Cancer Society; the Republican Women’s Association; and 20+ years on the Sistersville Public Library Board. Gretta served the community through the Brownies and Girl Scouts, Ladies Knitting Group, and directing the Friday Afternoon Ladies Happy Hour. She loved traveling and playing golf, but most of all, her family. She was a loving Grandma, Mother, and Wife. Friends will be received Tuesday, June 9, 2009 from 6:30 – 9:00 pm at the Myers Funeral Home, Sistersville. A Memorial Service in Celebration of Life will be held at the First Presbyterian Church of Sistersville on Wednesday, June 10, 2009 at 10:30 AM. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to First Presbyterian Church of Sistersville, 801 Chelsea St., Sistersville, WV 26175.
