Harry Sassin Peters

Harry Sassin Peters, 89, of Vienna, WV, formerly of Sistersville, WV and Scottsdale, AZ, passed away on January 19, 2015 at home. He was born October 25, 1925, a son of the late Sassin A. Peters and Emma Azar Peters. Mr. Peters was a graduate of West Virginia University and worked for Union Carbide until he retired in 1983. He was a member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, a member of the ELKS Lodge #333 and he also served on the Board of Directors for Union Bank. He was also a pilot for the United States Air Force during World War II. In 2013, he celebrated his 70th reunion from Sistersville High School. Mr. Peters was an avid golfer, played and lettered on the WVU golf team, he was also an active member at Sistersville and Parkersburg Country Clubs and Southern Seniors Golf Association. He is survived by his daughter, Ellen (Tom) Schiller of Bethesda, MD; grandson, Matt Schiller of Bethesda, MD; nephews, Peter Fader and Jim Earnshaw; nieces, Jody Earnshaw and Jill Wilging. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn "Carol" Earnshaw Peters, and sister, Yvonne Fader. Memorial gifts can be made to the Rosary Guild, Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 519 Main Street, Sistersville, WV. Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday at 10:30 am at Holy Rosary Catholic Church with Father James LaCrosse and Deacon Rod Fagert officiating with visitation at Myers Funeral Home from 9:30 am until time of service. Visitation will be Friday from 4-8 pm at Myers Funeral Home with recitation of the Rosary at 7:00 pm and Christian Wake Service at 8:00 pm.
