Rev. Hayward R. Perkey, 91, of St. Marys, WV, passed away peacefully into his Savior's arms, April 9, 2014. He was born April 28, 1922, in Weston, WV, a son of the late John Benton Perkey and Evelyn B. Reaser Perkey. Hayward graduated from the Lexington Theological Seminary and he devoted 55 years of ministry serving various churches in West Virginia. He was retired from the Episcopal Dioceses of West Virginia. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia E. Rexroad Perkey, brothers, John B. Perkey, French Perkey and one great-grandchild. He is survived by a son, John (Sherry) Perkey of Middlebourne; daughter, Evelyn (Jerry) Davis of St. Marys; brother, Zane (MaryJo) Perkey of Weston; grandchildren, April (Tom) Zakrewski, Jondrea (Brandon) Nicholson, Lyncee (Craig) Pritchett, J. Bryn Perkey, Zach (fiancée Amber Wiley) Perkey, Gina (Arnold) Houser and Jared (Jordan) Davis and eleven great-grandchildren. At the family's request, there will be a memorial service at a later date at Grace Episcopal Church in St. Marys, WV. Memorial contributions are requested in his memory to any of the following Episcopal Churches: St. Ann's Episcopal Church, New Martinsville, WV, Christ Memorial Episcopal Church, Williamstown, WV, Grace Episcopal Church, St. Marys, WV, or St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Sistersville, WV.
