Hildegard E. Mathews

Hildegard E. Mathews, 80, of New Martinsville, WV, passed away peacefully to be with the Lord on July 27, 2011 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born December 2, 1930, in Straubing, Germany, a daughter of the late Max Gerschau and Elisabeth Stein Gerschau. Hilda was a homemaker. She was a Lutheran by faith and dearly loved her family. Hilda is survived by her sons, Steve (Kim) Mathews of Paden City and Michael (Cindy) Mathews of New Martinsville; daughter, Teresa Morris and fiancé Fred Midcap of Sistersville; sister, Lydia Sittig of New Martinsville; grandchildren, Jeff, Darlene, Eddie and Danielle Morris and Timothy, Joshua, Jessica and Shania Mathews; and great-grandchildren, Marisha, Emily and Sierra Morris and baby Isaiah Poling and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Mathews, son, Thomas Mathews, sisters, Yohanna, Rita and Marianne and brothers, York, Rudy, Werner and Heinz. Visitation will be Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 at Myers Funeral Home. Services will be Saturday at 1:00 pm at the funeral home with Tim Fleeman officiating. Interment will be at Greenwood Cemetery.
