Janice Patterson

Janice Patterson, 87, of Vienna, WV, formerly Sistersville, WV, passed away on July 22, 2021 at Stonerise of Parkersburg. She was born May 10, 1934, in Paden City, WV, to the late Clea Eugene Forrester and Dorothy McWilliams Forrester Long. Janice was a 1952 graduate of Sistersville High School. She enjoyed playing basketball and was a member of the band, as a majorette and saxophonist. She attended Mountain State College and worked at PPG before assuming her most fulfilling role as a mother and grandmother. There were many memories made on her front porch, as she and Gene were so welcoming to friends for impromptu visits. Through the years, she served many children through endless booster groups. She was a member of the Sistersville First United Methodist Church. Janice is survived by her husband of 65 years, Gene Patterson of Vienna, WV; sons, William "Bill" (Kim) Patterson of Parkersburg, WV and Robert "Bob" Patterson of Parkersburg, WV; daughter, Betsy Patterson of Parkersburg, WV; grandsons, Blake (Megan) Patterson, Matt (Carrie) Patterson, Bruce Patterson and Tyler Bolen and granddaughters, Emily (Robert) Rudolph and Jaye Lynn DeVaughn; great grandchildren, Brooks Patterson, Virginia Patterson, Demi Patterson, Evelyn Rudolph, and Eli Rudolph. In addition to her parents and stepfather (William Long), she was preceded in death by her grandson, Beau Patterson. The family will be holding a private ceremony.
