Gary Joseph “Joe” Amos, 70, of Sistersville, WV passed away, April 23, 2013 at his residence. He was born, October 26, 1942 in Smithfield, WV a son of the late Edward Haskle and Gertie Powell Amos. Joe was a 1961 graduate of Smithfield High School, he was a US Navy Veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a retired coal miner and he was a member of the UMWA #1632 and the American Legion Post #200 in New Martinsville, WV. Joe enjoyed music and especially liked singing karaoke. He is survived by his wife, Irona Hammel Amos, one daughter, Myrna Renay Amos Mason (Donald) of Reader, WV, two sons, Gary Joseph Amos, Jr. (Rebecca) of Belle Chasse, LA, Edward Haskle Amos, II, step-children, Ronald (Sally) Ebert of Shirley, WV, Tammie (Gary) Willey of New Martinsville, WV, Tonyia (Alvin) Henderson of New Martinsville, WV, Ruthy (Bill) Shreves of Sistersville, WV, Kevin (Shelley) Ebert of Friendly, WV, Jayne (Jerry) Richardson of Sistersville, WV, Matt (Anastasia) Ebert of New Martinsville, WV, Rodney (Brandi) Ebert of Sistersville, WV, Michael (Michele) Ebert of Friendly, WV, Melissa (Bill) Williams of Friendly, WV, and Jennifer (Dave) Dieterich of Sistersville, WV, Robert L. (Rita) Rohde of Pine Grove, WV, John C. (Grace) Rohde of Pine Grove, WV, Joseph P. (Joanne) Rohde of Gloucester, VA, Barbara (Dewain) Starks of Newport News, VA, one sister, Carol (George) Frush of Geneva, OH, one brother, Edward Eric Amos of New Martinsville, WV and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one step-daughter, Teresa Ann Ebert and one sister Mary Williams. Funeral services will be held Friday, April 26, 2013 at 8:30 PM at Myers Funeral Home, Sistersville, WV with Pastor Lisa Fox and the Honor Guard from the VFW and American Legion officiating. Calling hours will be on Friday from 6 PM until the time of the service.
