Joseph "Joe" Mark Bowen, 60, of Friendly, WV, passed away peacefully surrounded by loving family on August 4, 2015. He was born May 18, 1955, a son of the late Howard Bowen and Arminta "Minnie" Parks Bowen. Joe worked construction laborer for over 35 years. He was a member of the Tyler Rod & Gun Club, Tyler County Coonhunters, WV Trappers Association, WV Bear Hunters Association, he was a Retired Organizer for the WV Laborers Council, Charleston, WV, Secretary/Treasurer for the Laborers Union Local #1149, Wheeling, WV and Organizer for the Laborers Union Local #1085, Parkersburg, WV. He was also a member of the Beech Run Freewill Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Sue Peckens Bowen, Friendly, WV; son, Jeremy Bowen, Proctor, WV; daughters, Kelly (David) Quigley, Benwood, WV, Casey (Bill) Coulter, New Martinsville, Valerie Keys (Chris), Friendly, WV and Rainelle (Justin) Pratt, Sistersville, WV; brothers, Dan (Judy) Bowen, Middlebourne, WV and James "Jim" (Nanci) Bowen, Friendly, WV; eight grandchildren; nieces, Lori Boyce and Holly (Joseph) Duncan; nephew, Tim Bowen; great-nephew, Tim Bowen, Jr. and best friends, Terry Starkey and Tim Ingram. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made to Journey Hospice, 314 S. Wells Street, Sistersville, WV 26175. Services will be Saturday at 11:00 am at Myers Funeral Home with Reverend Don Thomas officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at Myers Funeral Home.
