Larry F. Howard, 80, of Friendly, passed away May 9, 2012 at Camden Clark Memorial Hospital. He was born November 14, 1931 in Sistersville, a son of the Francis Lee Howard and Nellie Virginia Stewart Howard. Larry was a retired Major with the United States Army. He served in Korea and Vietnam twice. He was awarded the Bronze Star. Larry was a member of the Sistersville VFW Post #6327, Elks Lodge BPOE #333, Sistersville American Legion Post #67, New Martinsville Moose Lodge #931, the Tyler Rod and Gun Club and he was an avid golfer. He is survived by his companion of 18 years, Rose Herman; daughter, Kitty (Michael) Eaken; son, Michael (Elizabeth Boone) Howard; brother, Lester Wayne Howard; sister, Ruth Dearth; grandchildren, Edward Eaken, Daniel Eaken and Travis and Emma Howard, great-granddaughter, Leah Eaken; and special loved ones, Robert Throckmorton, John Throckmorton, Pam Musgrave, Angela Beaver, Sharla Chapman, Faye Young and Ray Herman. In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by brothers, Harold “Bud” Howard and Bernard Howard and sister, Louise Kehrer. Services will be Saturday, May 12, 2012 at 1:00 pm at Myers Funeral Home with Reverend Bill Dawson officiating. Visitation will be Friday, May 11, 2012 from 2-8 pm at the funeral home. Interment will be at Archer’s Chapel with full military graveside rites. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made to the Louis A.
