Spratt, Sr., Larry Gene, age 70. Of Sistersville, WV (formerly of Redfield, IA) went to be with his loving Savior on August, 30, 2017 following an extensive illness at his residence with his loving wife of 29 years by his side. He was born on February 7, 1947 in Boone, IA. Larry lived with several sets of foster parents during his younger years and took the last name Spratt. All parents are deceased except for his last foster father Byrle Spillers of Redfield, IA. Larry was a decorated veteran and retired as an AS1 after serving for 20 years in the United States Navy and served aboard the U.S.S. Midway and the U.S.S. Lincoln. He was a member of the Church of Christ since 1993 when he was baptized at the Alameda, California Church of Christ and recently a member of the Bridge Street Church of Christ, New Martinsville and a member of the Tyler Rod and Gun Club, Friendly, WV. Larry loved animals, NASCAR camping and hunting After retirement in 1995, he developed and remodeled a farm house and acreage to provide a living for himself and his wife until the farm became what he had envisioned. Then, he took employment with Advance Auto in New Martinsville for a few years. After several years and Neoma’s retirement, he devoted all of his time to the farm and home life. In addition to his adoptive parents, Larry was preceded in death by his grandson, Elijah Spratt. Survivors include his loving wife, Neoma Hays Spratt; two children: Larry Gene (Lisa) Spratt, Jr. of New Martinsville and Stephanie Spratt of Langling, WA; four grandchildren: Levi and Lily Spratt of New Martinsville and Alyscia Christine and Asaya Spratt of Langling, WA; one great granddaughter: Karsyn Gardner; three adoptive sisters: Tana Kirkpatrick, Sheila Edwards and Carole Ann Schnobrich all of Redfield, IA. The family wishes to thank Journey Hospice of Sistersville for their compassion during this time. Family will receive friends from 5-8 pm Friday at the Myers Funeral Home, 600 Main St., Sistersville, WV Graveside and Military services will be held at 12:00 pm Saturday at the Friendly Cemetery, Friendly, WV.
