Lawrence "Larry" Richard Young, Jr.

Lawrence “Larry” Richard Young, Jr., 81, of Sistersville, WV, passed away October 10, 2023 at home.

He was born April 3, 1942 in Wileyville, WV, a son of the late Lawrence Richard Young and Sarah Bernita Dakan Young.

Larry retired from the former Union Carbide as an Instrument Technician.  He was a United States Air Force veteran.  He was a member of the VFW Post 6327 and Sistersville ELKS BPOE #333.

Larry, known as Bunk to many of his family and friends, was an avid hunter his whole life and enjoyed being outside.  He loved his garden and cutting his grass.  His hobby was canning which he turned into a thriving business with his wife and daughter, Stacey.   Uncle Bunk’s has become a well-known West Virginia brand winning many national awards, including a sofi ™, multiple Scovie Awards and World’s Best Condiment.

Above all, Larry loved spending time with his wife and family and was never without a beer in hand.

He is survived by his wife, Rose Marie Minnite Young of Sistersville, WV; daughters, Stacey (Mark) Kasun of St. Mary’s, WV and Kristina (Bryan) DeLisio of Mars, PA; grandchildren, Gianna and Rocco DeLisio and Brody Kasun; sister, Vivian Young of Reston, VA; brother, Jack (Nancy) Herrmann of Wheeling, WV; sister-in-law, Connie (David) Koon of Canonsburg, PA and very special nieces and nephews including Matthew, Adam and Nicholas Koon and Connie Wells.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Kathleen Young, Patsy (James) Wharton and Eleanor Kay Busch; and in-laws, Frank and Mary Minnite.

Visitation will be on Saturday, October 14, 2023 from 11:00 am until time of funeral service at 3:00 pm at Myers Funeral Home.
