Martha Lavina Poole

Poole, Martha Lavina, age 101, of Belmont, WV (Formerly of Sistersville, WV) died Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at Care Haven of Belmont. She was born on March 31, 1916 in St. Marys, WV a daughter of the late George and Elizabeth “Effie” Gardner Kirkbride. Lavina retired from the G.C. Murphy Company and was the co-owner of the former Tyler Hotel and Restaurant. She was a member of the Sistersville First Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Shirrell E. Poole; one son: James E. “Ed” Poole; two brothers: James and William Kirkbride and one sister: Bonita Cline. Lavina is survived by her daughter, Linda Birkheimer; one son: William Poole; seven grandchildren; five great grandchildren; several great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. There will be no visitation. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday at Greenlawn Memorial Park, New Martinsville, WV. Arrangements entrusted to Myers Funeral Home, Sistersville.
