Mary Martha Moore

Mary Martha Bridgeman Moore, 97, of New Martinsville, WV, passed away July 22, 2018 at home. She was born March 12, 1921, in Wheeling, WV, a daughter of the late Dr. George Bridgeman and Georgia Long Bridgeman. Mary graduated from Magnolia High School in 1939. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church and an avid genealogist and quilter. Like thousands of other women during World War II, Mary became a "Rosie the Riveter", working at Lockheed Aircraft in Burbank, CA as a Welder's Assistant. Following the war, she began employment at NBC Studios where her job brought her in daily contact with many of the stars of radio and early TV. She eventually retired from UCLA Medical Center as an Administrative Assistant. She is survived by her son, Michael Moore of New Martinsville; granddaughter, Teresa M. Moore of Cincinnati, OH and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, William, John, George and Dr. Robert Bridgeman. Her family has honored her request for cremation without a service. A memorial service will be held at the family's convenience at a later date.
