Mary. K. Placer, 76, of Ridgway, PA, formerly of Sistersville, passed away suddenly Friday, Jan.3, 2014, at her residence in Ridgway, PA, with her son Jeff at her side. Born December 11, 1937, in Alvy, WV, she was the daughter of Leonard and Oma Gaines Glover. She attended Alvy Grade School and Tyler County High School. She married R. Homer Placer on July 3rd, 1957. Mary was a homemaker and worked various jobs in Sistersville, including Murphy’s Restaurant, home health care and babysitting. She was a member of Sistersville First United Methodist Church while in Sistersville and the First Lutheran Church in Ridgway. Her hobbies included her family, bingo, jigsaw puzzles, and watching the Game Show Network. She enjoyed old-time country music and spending time with her family and friends. She is survived by her only son, Jeffery, and daughter-in-law, Brenda, of Ridgway, PA; and two grandchildren, Justin Placer (Kimberly) of Penfield, PA, and Jordan Placer of Ridgway, PA. She was preceded in death by Homer Placer on May 13, 1999; a sister, Marie Watkins; two sisters-in-laws, Rose Glover and Shirley Glover; and a brother-in-law, Fred (Chop) Lohr. She is also survived by 5 brothers and sisters: Leonard Glover of Chardon, OH; Irene Lohr of Port Charlotte, FL; William Glover of Lawrenceville, GA; Leroy Glover (Patti) of Sistersville; and Joseph Glover (Rosalie) of Cleveland, OH; her brother-in-law Robert Watkins of Onsted, MI; and her beloved sister-in-law, Deloris Placer, of Sistersville. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. She will be terribly missed. Friends will be received at Myers Funeral Home, Tuesday, January 7, from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Wednesday, January 8, at the Myers Funeral Home in Sistersville with Rev. Bill Dawson officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Sistersville. Memorials may be made to Ridgway Ambulance Service, North Broad Street, Ridgway, PA 15853.
