Mary Jane Rutherford

Mary Jane Rutherford, age 88, of Sistersville, WV died Friday, August 12, 2016 at the Camden-Clark Medical Center, Parkersburg, WV after a brief illness. She was born on December 29, 1927 in Sistersville, WV a daughter to the late Mike and Audrey Stewart Hendricks. Mary Jane retired from Union Carbide as an Accounting Supervisor; was a member of the Sistersville United Methodist Church where she was a member of the United Methodist Women, the Altar Guild and was very active in helping with the bereavement dinners at the church; was a member of the Red Hats; member of the Lilac Twig; was a 50 year member of the Order of Eastern Star Chapter #31, St. Marys, WV; past member of the Sistersville Country Club; a member of the “Friday Happy Hour Club” and was an avid bridge player. She was a proud 1945 graduate of Sistersville High School and was Past President of the Sistersville High School Alumni Association. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Chauncey Rutherford on September 23, 1997; one sister, Hetty Batton; two brothers, Charlie and Alan “Mike” Hendricks. Survivors include two sons: Randy (Mary Ann) Rutherford of Grand Haven, MI and Brent Rutherford of Sistersville; one step-son: Ron (Charlene) Rutherford of Pomeroy, OH and their children, Jim, Tracey and Michelle; two grandchildren: Megan (Drew) Danser and Troy (Corey) Rutherford; one great grandson: Leo Danser and several nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends on Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until time of funeral services at 1:00 p.m. at the Sistersville First United Methodist Church, 610 Main St., Sistersville with Pastor Bill Dawson and Rev. Timothy J. Kelley officiating. Interment will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Sistersville Memorial Fund, 550 Main St., Sistersville, WV 26175.
