Mitchell Aric Higgins

Mitchell Aric Higgins, 22, of Sistersville, WV, passed away on February 7, 2017, in a tragic car accident in Barboursville, WV. He was born September 6, 1994, in Parkersburg, WV, a beloved son of Richard "Rick" Higgins, Jr. and Stephanie Steward Higgins. Mitchell was a Senior History major at Marshall University; he was a 2013 graduate of Tyler Consolidated High School and he was an avid Cleveland Cavaliers fan. He was an Expo at Buffalo Wild Wings in Barboursville, WV and he loved fishing and playing basketball. He loved his family and friends and he will be dearly missed by everyone who knew him. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his brother, Alex Higgins; maternal grandparents, Papal Don and Mamal Kay Steward of Sistersville, WV; paternal grandfather, Richard "Rick" Higgins, Sr.; great-grandmother, Juanita "Nan" Steward of Sistersville, WV; Aunt Angie and Uncle Dave Ferrell and special cousin, Myah; Aunt Kelli Higgins McPeek and special cousins, Stephen, Kyle and Olivia; Uncle Chad McPeek and numerous other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his Nana Nancy Higgins. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Visitation will be Saturday from 2-8 pm at Myers Funeral Home, 600 Main Street, Sistersville, WV. The funeral will be Sunday at 2:00 pm at the First Baptist Church of Sistersville with Pastor Darrell Mayfield officiating. Interment will be at Greenwood Cemetery.
