Ankrom, Oliver Thomas “Tom”, age 81, of New Martinsville, WV passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, May 17, 2017. He was born on November 20, 1935 in Kidwell, WV, a son of the late William E. and Helen B. Harter Ankrom. Tom retired after 18 years of service as a Custodian for the Tyler County Schools; was a U.S. Army veteran serving from 1958-1960 and a member of the Sistersville Church of the Nazarene, Sistersville, WV. He enjoyed time with his family, hunting and working his Kidwell farm. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers: Frank, John and Roger Ankrom and a granddaughter, Brittany Marie Gorby. Survivors include his wife of 56 years Maxine M. Bassett Ankrom; four daughters: Karen (Eric) Gorby of Paden City, WV, Sharon (Robert) Thomas of Kidwell, WV, Rebecca (Jerry) Maxwell of Friendly, WV and Teresa (Patrick) Collins of Shiloh, WV; eight grandchildren: Laura (Brad) Demuesy, Ryan Dalrymple, Andrew (Samantha) Kile, William Gorby, Rachel (Brandon) Doll, Samantha (Andy) Titus, Troy Collins and Evan Maxwell; four great grandchildren: Andrew Kile, Adam Kile, Brittany Gorby and Annebelle Doll; one brother: Brady (Marilyn) Ankrom of Kidwell, WV; three sisters: Mary (Gene) Helms of Canton, OH, Betty (Herman) Haught of Kidwell, WV and Nellie Wilson of Middlebourne, WV. Friends will be received from 5-8 p.m. Friday at the Myers Funeral Home, 600 Main St., Sistersville, WV where funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday with Pastor Matt Llewellyn officiating. Interment will follow in the Lazear’s Chapel Cemetery near Middlebourne, WV. Memorial contributions in Tom’s memory may be made to the Journey Hospice, 314 S. Wells St., Sistersville, WV 26175.
