Patricia Ann (Patty) Springer Silk, 86, of Gallipolis, Ohio, formerly of Sistersville, W.Va., passed away Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2009, at the Arbors in Gallipolis. She was born in Sistersville on May 18, 1922, the youngest child of Alonzo George (AG) and Joberta Henderson Springer. Patty was a graduate of Sistersville High School class of 1940. She was retired from Gallia County Community Action. She was a member of the Gallia County Senior Citizens, Moose Lodge of Point Pleasant, W.Va., and the Sistersville Elks Club. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Silk, on Feb. 2, 1990; four brothers, George, Bill and Jack Springer and an infant brother, Bruce; four sisters, Virginia Herwig, Mary Springer, Betty Richards and Margaret Bradfield; and one nephew, Walter "Skip" Bradfield. Patty is survived by one sister, Helen Haught of Sistersville, W.Va.; sister-in-law, Wanda Springer of Statesville, N.C.; three nieces, Joan Hadley and Joberta White, both of Sistersville, W.Va. and Margie Jo Poole of Statesville, N.C.; four nephews, Larry Bradfield of Marietta, Ohio, Jack Haught of North Myrtle Beach, S.C., Jack Springer Jr. of Fairfax, Va., and Bill Springer of Newell, W.Va.; her good friend of 52 years, Mildred (Mick) Jacobs, of Gallipolis, Ohio; and her friend and caregiver, Pauline Newell, of Gallipolis, Ohio. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 28, 2009 at the Myers Funeral Home, Sistersville, W.Va. with the Reverend Jef Stemple officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery, Sistersville. Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
