Paul Wells, 95, of Sistersville, WV, passed away on May 18, 2023 at The Heritage in St. Mary's.
He was born September 18, 1927, in Sistersville, WV, a son of the late Otis Wells and Shirley Moore Wells.
Paul was the youngest of 8 siblings. The family lived in Pursley and farmed as their primary income. He often recounted milking cows during his childhood. He graduated from Tyler County High School in 1946 and he was a United States Army veteran, spending a year in Japan and serving during the restitution following WWII.
He married the late Vivian "Janice" Underwood Wells in 1954, and together they had two sons, Mike and Jeff. They were married 66 years until her passing in 2020. He spent his working years at Ormet Aluminum and was a dedicated member of the Oxford Street Church of Christ.
He maintained a love for farming, raising sheep, beef cattle and making hay alongside his son, Mike. He was always willing to take his grandchildren on 4-wheeler rides through the pasture and enjoyed helping with the many FFA animal projects his granddaughters raised.
He is survived by his sons, Mike (Jan) Wells of Sistersville, WV and Jeff Wells of Deerfield Beach, FL; grandchildren, Adam (Molly) Wells, Chelsea (George Hilvers) Wells, Emily (Zach) Morrow and Melissa Wells; great-granddaughter, Karina Morrow and great-grandson, Lucas Morrow.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Janice Underwood Wells; brothers, Earl, Carl, Glen, Wayne and Nile Wells and sisters, Ruth Wells and Mary Virtue.
Visitation will be on Sunday, May 21, 2023 at Myers Funeral Home from 12:00 noon until time of funeral service at 2:00 pm with Evangelist Skip Andrews officiating. Interment will be at Beechwood Cemetery.
