Robert "Butch" Butcher

Robert "Butch" Vincent Butcher, 77, of Friendly, WV, passed away December 12, 2020 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, OH. He was born November 17, 1943, in Pleasants County, WV, a son of the late Robert Stamn Butcher and Fay Bradfield Butcher. Butch worked as a Mechanic at the former Union Carbide Sistersville plant. He was a United States Army veteran and was serving as President of the Board of Directors at the Long Reach Federal Credit Union. He built many racecars and was very involved with the Tyler County Speedway. He mentored many young people as well as being involved with the community. Butch had a love for the wildlife and enjoyed feeding them around the house. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Myra Metz Butcher of Friendly, WV; brother, Timothy (Teresa) Butcher of St. Mary's, WV; sisters, Betsy (Phil) Collins of Staunton, VA and Kitty (Chuck) Gorrell of Arvilla, WV; brothers-in-law, Bill (Debra) Metz of Arvilla, WV and David Goodfellow of Pursley, WV and sister-in-law, Mary (Robert) Hamilton of Erie, PA; mother-in-law, Ruth Metz and several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Nancy Goodfellow. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, there will be a private service for the family.
