Robert E. Cornell

Robert E. Cornell, 76, of Sardis, OH, passed away March 1, 2017 at Bridgeport Health Care Center. He was born August 16, 1940, in Falls Mills, WV, a son of the late Harold Cornell and Sara Flanagan Cornell. Robert was retired from Greif Brothers. He was a member of the Sistersville ELKS Lodge #333 and a Paden City Firefighter. He loved to watch football and he was a Baptist by faith. He loved his grandchildren and spending time with them. He is survived by his son, Robert E. (Renee Taylor) Cornell, II; daughter, Sherry (Kevin) Hall; sisters, Norma Jean Smith and Phyllis Emmerling; sister-in-law, Sandra Langford Cornell; grandchildren, Spenser (Adrean) Cornell, Ethan Cornell and Megan Cornell and Ashton Hall and Jakeb Hall; great-grandchildren, Sophia Ann Cornell and Ethan James Lee Cornell and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Ann Beckett Cornell in 2011; brothers, Harold "Billy" (Janice Smith) Cornell, Victor Cornell and Jerry Cornell; sister, Linda Lou (Roger) Moore and brothers-in-law, Otto Smith, William Emmerling and Roger Moore. Services will be Saturday from 11:00 AM until time of service at 1:00 PM at Myers Funeral Home with Pastor Darrell Mayfield officiating. There will be no graveside service. Interment will be at West Union Cemetery, Sardis, OH. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Alzheimer's Association, PO Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-6011.
