Shannon Kelly

Kelly, Shannon, age 92, of Sistersville, WV died Saturday, September 29, 2018 at Wheeling Hospital, Wheeling, WV. She was born on November 11, 1925 in Smithtown, WV, a daughter of the late Roy and Ethel Heston Ferrell. Shannon was a devoted wife, social worker and journalist. She earned a Journalism Degree from West Virginia University. She was a member of the Sistersville First United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Adam Kelly; beloved son, Robert Kelly, and a brother, Robert Ferrell. Survivors include two daughters: Katie (John) Chaplin and Laura Young; two sisters: Betty Bryan and Jane Watterson; daughter-in-law, Kathy Kelly; five grandchildren: Matthew, Kelly, Jessica, Adam and Abby; two great grandchildren, Zoe and Kate; several nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am Friday at the Sistersville First United Methodist Church with Rev. Andrew Tennant and Rev. Bill Dawson officiating. The family will greet friends after the service in the church fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Adam Kelly Scholarship Fund for Tyler County, c/o the West Virginia Press Association, 3422 Pennsylvania Ave., Charleston, WV 25302.
