Susan Boyles

Susan Leslie Boyles, 75, of Sistersville, WV, passed away October 19, 2022 while at Inova Loudoun Hospital, Virginia. She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Boyles, mother, Ethel Mae Doig Boyles, and an older sister, Barbara Meszaros.

Susan was a graduate of Sistersville High School, class of 1965, earned an undergraduate degree from Marshall University, and a Master's degree from West Virginia University. Susan devoted her life to education and was employed by Tyler County Schools for 49 years. She began as a well-loved and respected teacher and ended her career serving as Director of Curriculum and Instruction. Over her long tenure, she served as a mentor to numerous teachers and administrators. Susan was an active member of the Sistersville Alumni Association for many years. She also enjoyed attending school sporting events and band competitions.

For several years, Susan managed the Sistersville city pool, gave swimming lessons, and instructed Lifesaving and First Aid classes. She loved playing cards with her Bridge Club and spending time with her family. She was an amazing mother, sister, grandmother, and aunt. She will be remembered for her dedication to her friends and family, commitment to education, and admiration for the town of Sistersville.

She is survived by her daughter, Rebecca Boyles Dodson of Leesburg, VA; granddaughter, Caroline Brooke Dodson; brother, Robert (Arlene) Boyles of Perrysburg, OH; sister, Rebecca (Gary) Wick of Fairmont, WV, and several nieces and nephews.

Viewing will be from 4-8 pm on Tuesday, November 1, 2022, at Myers Funeral Home, Sistersville, WV. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 2, 2022, at 1 pm, with Reverend Colleen Griffith officiating.  Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
