Verna "Margie" Stead

Verna Isabell “Margie” Stead, 89, of Limestone, W.Va., formerly of Sistersville, W.Va. passed away May 7, 2011 at home. She was born February 4, 1922 in Sistersville, W.Va., a daughter of the late Ove and Bertha Lorena Curry Grimm. She was a member of the Sistersville Church of the Nazarene and she was a loving mother and grandmother. She is survived by four sons, Kenneth D. (Linda) Stead of Paden City, W.Va., Dr. Floyd L. (Connie) Stead of Morgantown, W.Va., Christy O. (Becky) Stead of St. Clairsville, Ohio and Anthony L. Stead of Columbus, Ohio; two daughters, Rita M. Young, with whom Margie resided, of Moundsville, W.Va. and Alice M. (“Bill”) Ewing of Wheeling, W.Va.; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; a brother, Rev. Herbert Grimm of Crossville, Tenn.; a sister, Patricia Joanne Chaney of Texas; daughters-in-law, Reba Patterson Stead of Shadyside, Ohio and Becky Setzer Stead of Bellaire, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd T. “Pete” Stead in 2000; one brother, Rev. George Grimm in 1999; one sister, Mary Lucille Grimm Beaver in 2008; and one son-in-law, Allen W. “Bud” Young. Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 11th at the Myers Funeral Home, Sistersville, W.Va. with Pastor Denny Shirer officiating. Interment will be held at Greenwood Cemetery. Calling hours will be on Tuesday, May 10th from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Margie’s memory to the Sistersville Ministerial Association, 610 Main Street, Sistersville, WV 26175.
