Violet Lavina Knowlton, age 97, of Sardis, OH died Friday, September 25, 2015 at the Genesis New Martinsville Center, New Martinsville, WV. She was born on December 10, 1917 in Paden City, WV the eldest of nine daughters of the late George and Elva Billiter Henry. Violet was a homemaker; was a member, played piano and taught Sunday School at the New Matamoras Presbyterian Church where her husband, the late James B. Knowlton was pastor; was a member and Past Matron of the New Matamoras Order of Eastern Stars #261 where she was also the Grand Representative to New Jersey. She was an avid baker of cookies and wedding cakes; raised registered collie dogs. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Pastor James B. Knowlton; one son, Paul James Knowlton; three sisters, Wanda Owens, Nancy Leasure and Rose Wells. Survivors include; one daughter: Betty Kay McIntire of Belmont, OH; one daughter in law: Ruth Ann Ridgeway of Antioch, OH; six grandchildren: Jimmy (Yummi) McIntire of Pataskala, OH, Mark (Jane) McIntire of Roanoke, VA, John (Shawna) McIntire of Barnesville, OH, Tammy Adams of Canton, OH, James Arthur (Tammy) Knowlton of Sardis and Rebekah (Kendrick) Tinker of Old Fort, TN; nine great grandchildren; five sisters: Maggie May of Dubois, PA, Pearl Probst of Paden City, WV, Perie Haught of Friendly, WV, Pansy Raper of Paden City, WV and Joyce Long of Tennessee; several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the Myers Funeral Home, 600 Main St., Sistersville, WV on Monday, September 28, 2015 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. where funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 29, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Bill Williamson officiating. Burial will follow in the Paden Memorial Gardens, New Martinsville, WV.
