William "Bill" Bailey

William "Bill" Bailey, 84, of Friendly, WV, passed away in his sleep on May 8, 2021 holding the hand of his wife of 61 years. He was born April 1, 1937 in Uhrichsville, OH, a son to the late Voris H. Bailey and Margaret Pringle Bailey. Bill retired from Union Carbide, was a veteran of the United States Navy.He attended the Friendly United Methodist Church.Bill was known as the "Champion of Children's Rights.”He served on state and national boards for the health and safety of children. His travels took him nationwide.Bill never failed to help anyone who needed a helping hand. There was not one life he did not touch that wasn’t changed for the better. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Carmon Lola Young Bailey; son, William (Jennifer) Bailey, II of Silverdale, WA; daughter, Wendy Sims of St. Marys, WV; brother, Thomas Bailey of Martinez, GA and grandchildren, William Bailey, III, Elizabeth Bailey, Geniver Bailey, Czar Bailey, Gerald Bailey, Katherine Bailey, Magadalane Bailey, Sarah Bailey, Danielle Bailey, Joshua Bailey, Jeremy Bailey, Justin Bailey and great-grandchildren, D' Angelo Cummings and Gwendolyn Byrd. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Margaret Means. There will be a memorial service on July 31, 2021 at 2:00 PM at the Friendly United Methodist Church with Pastor Andrew Tennant officiating.
