William “Bill” Edward Shreve, Sr., 84, of Shallotte, NC, formerly of Sistersville, passed away May 3, 2010. He was born March 2, 1926, a son of the late John Dallas Shreve and Lucy Sinnett Shreve. He was a U.S. Army veteran wounded in WWII and fought in the Pacific War, receiving a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star, he was a member of the Wetzel Lodge 39 AF&AM and a member of the Sudan Shriners of New Bern, NC. He was a Sunday school teacher and a Deacon at the First Baptist Church of Sistersville and a member of the Open Door Baptist Ministries of Shallotte, NC and he was a retired chemical operator at PPG Industries. He is survived by sons, Larry (Joey) Shreve of Shallotte, NC and Ed Shreve of Oak Ridge, TN; sisters, Helen Shreve of Sistersville and Elouese Smith of Alma; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Eileen Shreve and sisters, Mary Travis, Dorothy Lee Shreve and Bessie Swisher. There will be a graveside service May 7, 2010 at 11:00 am at Greenwood Cemetery with Colonel Robert Hammel (Ret) conducting the service.
