James DeWayne "Wayne" Lasater, 89, of St. Mary's, WV, passed away peacefully on December 15, 2024 at the Heritage at St. Mary's.
He was born on April 11, 1935, in Malvern, AR, a son of the late Woodrow W. Lasater and Opal Rucker Lasater.
Wayne attended Texas A&M University in College Station, TX and WVU University in Morgantown, WV.
He was a United States Veteran serving in the Army. Early in his career, he worked for Ormet Corporation and later, the former Union Carbide, where he retired. Wayne was a proud 50 year member of the Phoenix Lodge, Sistersville/Wetzel Masonic Lodge #39 A.F. & A.M. of New Martinsville, WV. Wayne was a Baptist by faith.
He is survived by his two daughters, Julie (Duncan) Lewis of Evans, GA and Angela Saiani (Rich Hargrove) of Myrtle Beach, SC; two grandchildren, Michael Lewis of Atlanta, GA and Lindsay Lewis of Evans, GA; sister, Frances (Roger) Cote of Minocqua, WI and brother, Pete (Margaret) Lasater of Fordyce, AR.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Jerry Lasater, Minocqua, WI.
Visitation will be on Thursday, December 19, 2024 at Myers Funeral Home from 10:00 AM until time of service at 11:00 AM with Pastor Joyce Hill officiating. Masonic and military honors will be conducted with burial at Friendly Cemetery.
The family would like to give special thanks to the Heritage, their aides, nurses and employees for the excellent care he received while living there. Wayne considered all of them as family.
