Roger Lee Deaton

Roger Lee Deaton, 79, of Friendly, WV, passed away at home on Saturday, December 25, 2010. He was born March 6, 1931 in Friendly, WV, a son of the late Rector and Wreatha Bayless Deaton. He was retired from American Cyanamid (Cytec) in Willow Island, WV. He was stationed in Germany during the Korean War and served as corporal from 1952-1954. He enjoyed every moment with his family and friends; nothing was more important to him. He was always willing to lend a helping hand. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Janet Geneva (Cowgill) Deaton; sons, Christopher L. (Betty) Deaton, Brad J. (Deanna) Deaton and R. Matt (Thelma) Deaton; daughters, Pam K. (Greg) Buck, C. Joan (Jerry) Adkins and Stacy M. (Aaron) Boice; fourteen grandchildren and fifteen great-granchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Floyd Deaton and Charles “Putt” Deaton and sisters, Della Mae Mace and Florence Neff. Services will be Wednesday at 2:00 pm at Myers Funeral Home with Bishop Adrian “Abe” Cowgill officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4-8 at Myers Funeral Home.
